- The 23-year-old Brazilian forward underwent successful knee surgery this week
- Thiago had a pivotal role in Club Brugge winning the Juliper league last season
Brentford's club-record signing Igor Thiago is expected to be sidelined until late 2024 following successful surgery on a knee injury.
The 23-year-old Brazilian forward suffered a meniscus problem on July 20 after scoring twice during the Bees' 5-2 friendly victory over AFC Wimbledon.
Thiago's absence throws doubt over any potential exit for the Bees' star striker, Ivan Toney, as the club may neet to retain the England international's services until Thiago returns.
North London clubs Tottenham Hotspur and Arsenal are rumoured to be in for Toney, who is believed to be wanting to take the next step in his career.

Thiago scored 18 goals across 34 league outings last season to help Club Brugge win the Belgian title.
