Jordi Cruyff does not expect Lionel Messi to return to Barcelona before his career comes to an end. The Barcelona sporting director believes that there should be reconciliation between the two parties following Messi's departure to Paris Saint-Germain.

Messi didn't part ways with Barcelona in good terms as the club allowed him to leave on a free transfer due to their financial struggles.

"What is clear to me and to the president [Joan Laporta] is that there has to be a rapprochement with a legend like [Messi]," Cruyff told RAC1.

"Barcelona and Messi have to get together again. It can be done after [the end of] his career. But it is clear that that final embrace between a huge club and a huge player is missing. They both deserve it."

Ajax attacking midfielder Mohammed Kudus has stolen the spotlight with his performances for Ghana in the 2022 World Cup and Cruyff admitted that the player is on his radar.

"I saw him play a year ago and I have followed his career at Ajax," he added.

"We are not at the point of saying 'Barcelona want this player', far from it.

"But he is a player who has attracted attention for his performance and goals in the World Cup.

"To me, particularly, he draws my attention because of the debate in Holland about his position, whether he is an advanced midfielder or a striker."

Cruyff went on to indicate that Barcelona may not be able to further strengthen their squad with signings in January.

"As of today, we cannot sign [players] in the winter [transfer window]," he noted.

"The situation has changed due to an accumulation of things that come together and make Fair Play complicated.

"It's not a question of one player leaving and [then the issue is] solved. There are several different solutions, one is not enough".
