Bayern Munich's recent slump saw them lose top spot in the Bundesliga but that didn't last long, asJulian Nagelsmann's men got back to their best in a big win over Wolfsburg (4-2).

They showed their punching power in a rampant first half with two goals from Kingsley Coman and another from Thomas Muller, although Kaminski's strike gave the home side hope. In the second half, Joshua Kimmich's dismissal preceded Jamal Musiala's wonder goal.

Nagelsmann started with his strongest XI. Joao Cancelo and Alphonso Davies on the flanks and Muller and Musiala up front. The Bavarians' plan began to work after nine minutes. Coman received the ball on the wing and his cross found its way into Casteels' goal.

Just five minutes later, Cancelo popped up. A great cross from the Portuguese was headed into the back of the net by Coman with a lovely touch. Two games from the Portuguese and two assists.

Five minutes later, they were 3-0 up. A freekick from Kimmich into the heart of the box found Muller, who headed powerfully home.

It looked as if Wolfsburg would not respond, but Bayern relaxed and Kaminski, who had replaced Lacroix, scored past Yan Sommer to reduce the deficit.

The second half was at its best for Kovac's men, who missed the chance to pull one back with chances from Svanberg and Baku. On the hour mark, Kimmich cut out a counter-attack and was shown a second yellow card by Osmers. It was the German's first red card for the Bavarians.

But Bayern were not to be denied. Musiala picked up the ball and, after dribbling past two defenders, fired an unstoppable missile past Casteels. Soon after, Wolfsburg responded when Svanberg scored from a messy move in the area. There was no shortage of controversy when the referee decided to disallow what would've made it 4-3 after a Baku foul on Goretzka sparked the ire of the Volkswagen-Arena.

Bayern Munich return to the top of the Bundesliga after an impressive first half in which they showed all their punch and sent a warning to PSG ahead of the last 16 of the Champions League.
