France and Eintracht Frankfurt striker Kolo Muani can't forget the 2022 World Cup final where Les Blues lost to Argentina on penalties.

Muani had the opportunity to seal the victory for his team late in the extra time, but Argentina goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez pulled off an extraordinary save to send the game to a shootout.

"That play could have changed my life," Muani told L'Equipe.

"I would have preferred to put it on the back burner like everyone else, like all the French, but it happened and these are the vagaries of life.

"I keep looking at the play and I see that I have a good chance of scoring, but on the pitch it's all going too fast. It will give me the courage to go ahead and make it next time. Although I'm a little tired of talking about that play, it's something I won't be able to forget.

"I could have looked for other solutions, chip it or find Kylian Mbappe because he was in a good angle, but now it's too late. Emiliano Martinez didn't force me to shoot there. No, that's what I decided. Then he stretched well because he made a very good save.

"I want to move on, but talking about it is part of my job. It's not that I'm sad. I'm just not going to forget it. We were very close to bringing back the third World Cup. I'm not going to lie, I hate it."
