Steve Bruce has issued a come-and-get-me plea to Leicester as they begin their search for a new manager.

The Foxes are currently without a manager after Enzo Maresca left to join Chelsea on a five-year contract.

Maresca's departure came after just one season at the club, having guided them back to the Premier League after finishing top of the Championship.

Bruce has thrown his hat in the ring and says he would take the Leicester job if offered, claiming it would be a 'wonderful opportunity'.

The 63-year-old told talkSPORT: 'A points deduction wouldn't put me off. Leicester, you know where I am! I mean, what a wonderful opportunity that is all of a sudden.

'You know, they might have a few problems, but Leicester has been a great club over the past few years, of course the fairy tale of winning the Premier League a few years ago.'

Bruce has been out of work since being sacked by West Brom in October 2022 following a dismal spell at The Hawthorns, with the Baggies in the Championship relegation zone at the time of his departure.

The former Manchester United defender has managed 12 different clubs since his coaching career began at Sheffield United in 1998, with Bruce guiding both Birmingham City and Hull City to the Premier League on two separate occasions.

Having been been away from management for almost two years, Bruce says he would be open to being a number two or roles away from the touchline.

'I'm looking to do something. I mean I've had a year off now,' he said.

'Either management, or working alongside somebody. Or I'd like to think if a chairman asked me a question on football, I'd like to give him an answer.

'I've been in [football] a long time. But I've had a long winter in this country without work and so to do something is the next step.'

During his 24-year managerial career, Bruce has managed more than 1,000 games, winning 384 out of the 1,032 matches he has taken charge of at a win percentage rate of 37.2.
