Chelsea will reportedly reward Cole Palmer for his startling debut campaign with 'incremental wage rises' in a bid to keep him at the club for the next decade.

The 22-year-old completed a £42.5million move to Stamford Bridge from Manchester City last summer and went on to register 33 goal contributions in 33 Premier League outings.

The attacking midfielder continued this form at the European Championship, despite limited game time, and scored in the final having assisted Ollie Watkins' semi-final winner against the Netherlands.

Palmer put pen to paper on a seven-year deal believed to be around £80,000-per-week. That figures puts him on the lower end of salaries for first team stars, especially given his contribution to the squad.

Mindful of this, according to The Telegraph, the Blues will reward his performances with gradual increases to his pay and they are confident this will result in him staying with the side for 10 years.

Chelsea do not intend to make these adjustments public, instead they will reportedly 'work with Cole and his representatives' as the time arises.

Palmer did not join his Chelsea team-mates as they flew to the United States for their pre-season tour this week. Despite only ending his international commitments on Sunday night, the youngster was spotted hitting the gym less than 48 hours after England's Berlin defeat.

He has become one of the highest-rated players in the league, and now appears to be ready to kick on again, seemingly sacrificing a potential break to get the work in early in the gym.

Fans were impressed with his efforts, with one posting on X, formerly Twitter: 'Hard work always brings reward.;

Another, meanwhile, added: 'Respect to Cole. Absolute talent and baller.'

Chelsea will get their pre-season campaign underway on July 25 when they take on Wrexham in the United States, with Enzo Maresca now taking charge of the squad after replacing Mauricio Pochettino as boss.

Chelsea have already returned to pre-season training, with a number of players who did not play in international tournaments over the summer present.

Maresca struggled hide his frustration at one player as a clip from a training session at Cobham was released.

In a training clip, Maresca could be heard telling winger Noni Madueke, 'Noni, two touches, three touches is too much'.
