Cristiano Ronaldo continues to spark passionate debate at Manchester United. The fact that Erik ten Hag took him off against Newcastle in the 72nd minute with the score at 0-0 to bring on Marcus Rashford once again got people talking.

Now, United face Tottenham, again at home, and whether Cristiano will start or not is the subject of speculation. But if last season's fixture is anything to go by, he must, given that he scored a hat-trick against Spurs.

Antonio Conte was asked about the Portuguese and his lack of form, and the Italian responded by admitting he should have no doubts about the veteran after his exploits last season.

"I think I am the last person to make this question, because last season he scored a hat-trick against us," he responded during a press conference.

"Last season, he scored a hat-trick against us and fingers crossed [it won't happen again].

"We are talking about an amazing player, a top player.

"We are talking about a player that has continued to make the difference for the team that he is playing for. Cristiano, with Messi have made the history of football in the last 10 or 15 years.

"I have great respect for Cristiano for his professionalism."
