United States men's national team star Giovanni Reyna could be on the move this month, as the talented midfielder seeks more minutes at a new club. Premier League side Nottingham Forest are reportedly hoping to land Reyna on loan from Borussia Dortmund, where playing time has been hard to come by for the 21-year-old.

Forest are hoping to leverage its relationship with superagent Jorge Mendes -- who now represents Reyna -- into a loan deal with an option for a permanent transfer over the summer, with Reyna keen on trying a new experience after nearly five seasons in Dortmund's first team.
Reyna hoping for regular minutes
Reyna has made only 10 league appearances for Dortmund this season, starting just one game and accruing 255 minutes. His 2023/24 season started late after he suffered a foot injury while playing in the CONCACAF Nations League final against Canada last June, and he has not featured prominently in Dortmund boss Edin Terzic's plans.
Reyna, who grew up in New York and has made 24 appearances for the United States national team, moved to Germany from New York City FC's academy in 2019. He has played 120 times for BVB since debuting in 2020, scoring 17 goals and recording 14 assists.

Forest aiming for survival
It went down to the wire for Nottingham Forest last season, but the club avoided relegation in May and guaranteed itself a second successive season in the Premier League. However, it looks like another major effort will be required this season, as Forest sit 16th in the table after 21 games played.
Forest are only four points clear of the relegation zone this season but are making solid progress in the FA Cup. The Tricky Trees will like their chances to advance to the fifth round -- the round of 16 -- as they take on second-division Bristol City on Friday.
