Sergio Ramos is no longer a Rayados player after the team's elimination in the Liga MX semifinals and left Monterrey, but not before saying goodbye.

The captain of Domenec Torrent's team shared a video on his social networks in which he says goodbye to Mexico and the city that embraced him in Nuevo Leon.

Sergio Ramos fails in his attempt to succeed in Monterrey

In his words, Ramos thanked all the support he received and also acknowledged that he could not achieve the goal of winning as a Rayados player.

The Mexican experience is over, today we say goodbye to Monterrey. A few days a little nostalgic because we came with great enthusiasm, eager to succeed, it could not be, we have not been able to achieve the goal, but I take a wonderful experience of a charming country, people who have treated me wonderfully, a club that I think has a very large projection for the future and that, well, life goes on and I wanted to thank the whole country that affection, that respect that they have shown me in every detail.

And above all also to our fans, who from the first day I arrived I have felt supported, I have felt loved and thanks to all of them for having defended that shield with that passion in the same way being all together. I always wish you the best and thank you Mexico. Long live Mexico!

Why is Sergio Ramos not staying at CF Monterrey?

While there were talks between the two parties, according to sporting director Jose Antonio Noriega, they did not prosper, as Sergio Ramos made clear in his first words after the elimination in Toluca, when he assured that it was his last match in Mexico.

According to reports, the Spanish defender wanted a one-year contract, while the CF Monterrey board offered only six months, which would have been the main difference in the negotiations.

What's next for Sergio Ramos?

While he has been linked for a year with MLS, especially with San Diego FC and Lionel Messi's Inter Miami, there seem to be options for him to return to Europe.

In recent days, Cadena SER reported that Manchester United are interested in Ramos to join the Old Trafford club this winter.

Real Madrid, Juventus and other European clubs have also been mentioned. Surely in the coming weeks the future of the former Rayados player will be defined.
