The biggest debate in soccer this century over who is the best player has added a new chapter. Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo are undoubtedly part of the debate, with thousands of fans struggling to determine which of the two is the best. Messi and Rooney, Diallo's choices
Although Amad and Cristiano did not play any official matches together at Manchester United due to tactical decisions and his brief departure to Rangers in Scotland, they did share a dressing room and some training sessions during the Portuguese star's second spell at the club. However, when Diallo returned, CR7 had already terminated his contract.
Nevertheless, after signing a contract extension until June 2030 in January last year, Diallo continues his journey at United. Diallo, who has featured in 20 Premier League games this season with two goals and two assists, also mentioned Wayne Rooney as the club legend he would have most liked to play with:
"At United, the player I really like was Rooney. When they ask me which player would you love to play with from United history, I say Rooney because he is the player I really, really love," he added.
This choice, however, does not mean that Amad does not have a good relationship with or admire Cristiano, but rather reflects personal tastes and choices. Even Rooney himself had to come out and clarify that he does not 'hate' CR7 for choosing Lionel over him.
"People think I hate him [Cristiano Ronaldo]. I love him. I think he's an absolute genius and what he's doing is incredible... I don't think people realize how close me and him were. I think just because I've said that I think Messi is better than Ronaldo, people think I don't like Cristiano," he on Rio Ferdinand Presents in September last year.
