Football fans in Los Angeles have been treated to a unique new way of watching the Premier League for the 2024-25 season.

The top flight campaign kicked off on Friday night, with Manchester United defeating Fulham 1-0 at Old Trafford courtesy of Joshua Zirkzee's late debut goal.

73,297 supporters were in attendance at the clash, but several more enjoyed an immersive experience of the game despite being thousands of miles away.

Cosm Los Angeles, which describes itself as an 'experiential hub', showed the match live inside its venue, but the broadcast came with a twist.

Instead of just watching the match on a TV, an 87-foot LED screen presented the game in what Cosm described as 'shared reality'.

The view was effectively a simulation of being inside Old Trafford as the stadium crowd blended into the wider environment at the venue.

The likeness was scarily real, with the camera switching angles depending on where play was on the pitch, giving fans the chance to watch the Premier League like never before.

Several videos subsequently showed how fans were based in different areas of the ground as the action unfolded on Friday night.

This meant that supporters were effectively on the front row of the Stretford End as Zirkzee slotted home the winner for Erik ten Hag's side.

Fans were served food and drinks inside the venue, with the screens giving them the experience of feeling like they were pitchside at Old Trafford.

Tickets for the experience could be bought from level one to level three of the 'Cosm dome', with prices ranging from $66 (£50.99) to $132 (£101.98).

However, the most commonly-displayed price was $83 (£64.12), more than the cost of a ticket for Chelsea's clash with Manchester City on Sunday.

Clips shared on social media encapsulated the immersive experience and fans were left in awe by the new way to watch the game.

One said: 'This place is unreal,' while another added: 'So jealous. Enjoy!!'

A further fan said: 'That's crazy, I thought you were at Old Trafford,' while an extra supporter quipped: 'This is insane, I thought you were at the game for a minute.'

One supporter simply said: 'Wow,' as a final fan added: 'This is amazing.'

The venue opened earlier this year and described itself as 'laying the groundwork for the future of live entertainment'.

It shows a variety of sporting events, including football, NFL and UFC, with tickets still available for Sunday's match between Chelsea and City.
