Manchester United have written to the Premier League asking for 'greater consideration' for supporters ahead of their bank holiday clash with Crystal Palace.

The Red Devils will visit Selhurst Park on May 6th - a Monday bank holiday - which has lead to a potential travel disaster for fans making their way down to London.

Furthermore, the match will kick-off at 8pm in the evening and thus makes it extremely difficult for fans to organise a travel route back up north for the fixture.

With all of that considered, the club have now confirmed they have written to the league over the matter and offered fans free travel for the game.

According to the Manchester Evening News, the club said: 'We share your frustrations and appreciate the logistical difficulties that have been created for our fans by this fixture being scheduled for an 8pm kick off on bank holiday Monday in London.

'We want to inform you that we are writing to the Premier League to this effect and will be asking for greater consideration to be given to match-going fans when agreeing fixture schedules with broadcasters.

'To support our travelling fans, we are pleased that together with our partner adidas, we are able to offer free coach travel for supporters making the trip to Selhurst Park from Manchester with our official coach partner, One Club United. Places are limited so please apply today to secure your seat.

'With not all our fans wishing to travel by coach, we will also enter all ticket holders for this fixture into a draw to win a signed Manchester United shirt. Thank you for your incredible support'.

The clash at Selhurst Park will be United's fifth 8pm kick-off of the 2023-24 campaign - which is more than any other side in the English top-flight.

Meanwhile, United fans have already faced travel difficulties due to fixture scheduling this year - after fans were left stranded after their draw with Brentford.

The clash at the GTech Community Stadium, which was played on Easter Saturday, kicked-off just two minutes before the final train to Manchester left London.

Similarly, for the upcoming clash at Selhurst Park, fans are faced with the exact same issue, with the last train to Manchester on the night leaving at 9.39pm.

It means, should United fans want to ensure they return to Manchester on the night, they would have to leave the match in the first-half before travelling to Euston.

There is also an 11.35pm service back north from St Pancras, however it would not arrive in Manchester until 7.36am on Tuesday morning.

Earlier this week, the Manchester United Supporters' Trust hit out at the scheduling of the Palace match and called for match-going fans to be considered when Premier League games are moved for TV coverage.

'On the back of our fourth Saturday night 8pm away fixture of the season, it now feels like the football authorities and TV companies are trolling United fans with a bank holiday Monday evening kick-off time, away from home again,' a MUST spokesperson told Confidential.

'Once again, the needs of match-going fans seem to be the last thing anyone cares about.

'There needs to be a complete change of mindset from those who determine kick-off times, and fans needs to be brought into the decision-making process.'
