Luke Littler, now 17, is five months into stardom with millions watching his cheeky throws online, crowds jeering - and his 22-year-old girlfriend is still at his side. Tonight could be his biggest night in the Premier League darts final

Luke Littler's first Premier League campaign could not have gone much better, and he has the chance to land the biggest title of his fledgling career this evening at the O2 Arena.

The teenage sensation, who only turned 17 in January, burst onto the scene with his remarkable run to the World Championship final around the turn of the year before he was beaten by Luke Humphries.

In the aftermath of his breakthrough tournament, questions were asked about whether he deserved a place in the Premier League, which pits eight of the best players in the world against each other week after week for the best part of four months.

Was Littler just a flash in the pan? Could he realistically compete against the world's best on a consistent basis? Was it all a bit too soon?

The PDC opted to take a gamble by giving him a Premier League spot, and he has proved all his doubters wrong.

Across 16 weeks of league action, Littler flourished and finished top of the table with 40 points after winning four nights.

His phenomenal form has earned him a place in finals night in London, and he will be joined by Humphries, Michael Smith and Michael van Gerwen.

Those three men have five world titles between them, but if the last five months are anything to go by, Littler won't be fazed one bit.

Littler has taken to the Premier League like an experienced veteran, racking up points week after week to keep himself in the play-off spots, and has had plenty of fun along the way, with millions tuning in to watch his every move.

The sport's brightest star would have been forgiven for feeling the nerves when the Premier League began back in February, but he took everything in his stride, and the avid EA 24 player was even seen opening a fan's Ultimate Team pack during his walk-on in week three ahead of facing former two-time world champion Peter Wright. It didn't affect his concentration at all as he duly went on to beat the Scot.

Littler, who has danced and sang his way onto stages every week with his WrestleMania-inspired walk-on music blaring in the background, has engaged with crowds from day one, and fans can't get enough of him.

His fantastic performances have helped, with the young star pulling off a stunning 170 checkout in week four, before miming reeling in a fish to highlight landing a 'Big Fish' finish.

That showmanship got the fans on side, and he produced an even cheekier checkout last week when he hit double 20 three times on the trot to take out 120. Once again, Wright was on the receiving end, and was visibly stunned by what he had just seen.

Littler simply grinned as he turned towards the camera, while the crowd went wild.

But Littler has not always endeared himself to fans, most notably when the Premier League show rolled in to Liverpool last month.

Luke Littler, 17, revels in the first Premier League Darts win in front of girlfriend Eloise, 21, as they share selfie after he shushed and berated Scottish crowd in Aberdeen

The Reds had lost the Merseyside derby to Everton the previous evening, and Littler - a Manchester United super-fan - was only too happy to remind fans of the score.

He was subsequently jeered throughout the evening, but Littler seemed to enjoy being the pantomime villain as he went on to win the night.

He didn't have it much easier the next week as he was jeered once again in Aberdeen, but Littler had the last laugh as she shushed the fans after edging past Nathan Aspinall.

The rising star put the boo-boys behind him by posing for a selfie with his 22-year-old girlfriend Eloise Milburn after securing the night win, with the couple still going strong.

They first went public with their relationship during the World Championship after meeting on the darts circuit last year, and Milburn has remained by Littler's side in 2024.

The Warrington-born Littler may not be the most popular man in London tonight either, having labelled Arsenal supporters 'bottle jobs' after the Gunners fell short in the title race against Manchester City last weekend.

Luke Littler calls Arsenal supporters 'bottle jobs', as the Man United fan says he's not worried about 'getting stick' ahead of Premier League Darts final in London

Yet he has insisted he is not worried about 'getting stick' as he is fully focused on Premier League glory.

Littler will take on Smith for a place in the final against Humphries or Van Gerwen in arguably the strongest finals night line-up ever.

Van Gerwen has won the event seven times, and it could be a fitting end to the season to see him go up against Littler in the final after some brilliant battles between the pair in recent months.

The Dutchman has revealed he now cheekily refers to Littler as 'kebab boy' after the teenager admitted that is his favourite celebratory meal, and both men have refused to give an inch in their meetings this year.

A World Championship final rematch with Humphries is another possibility for Littler, and he would no doubt relish the chance to gain revenge on the biggest stage after his heartbreaking loss in January.

But first, he must get past Smith, a man who has given him plenty of trouble throughout the Premier League season.

Smith got the better of Littler in last week's semi-finals in Sheffield and has won five of their seven matches in 2024.

This highlights the size of the task facing Littler, but he has tackled every obstacle with no fear since his breakthrough, and can be expected to do the same tonight.

He is just two matches away from becoming the youngest-ever Premier League champion, and if there's one thing 'The Nuke' loves doing, it's creating history.
