Jamie Vardy made one of the great Premier League returns on Monday night, as he and Leicester secured a huge first point of the campaign at home to Tottenham

Vardy is one of the league's most potent strikers of the last decade, scoring 137 goals in 308 games for Leicester and became an icon of the division after firing the Foxes to the title in 2015-16.

But it's not just his prolific record that has earned him cult figure status among fans of the top-flight, with his love of Red Bull and proficiency in the darker arts of the game making him a hugely popular figure.

Now 37 - and coming off the back of a pre-season that was plagued by injury - the Leicester skipper somehow managed to showcase all three all in one match in truly iconic fashion.

With Leicester 1-0 down at the break after Pedro Porro's glanced header, the hosts had it all to do in order to come away from their first game back in the top-flight with something.

As the Foxes came out for the second period, cameras caught Vardy taking on some extra fuel in the tunnel in the form of his much-loved Red Bull, and within 12 minutes he'd headed home the equaliser.

His love of the popular energy drink is well-documented, having previously been seen drinking from a can just before scoring his 100th Premier League goal after turning 30 against Wolves back in 2022.

He famously told Sky Sports back in 2022 all about his fondness for Red Bull in their 'Making it Pro' feature, saying: 'I wake up in the morning and then [have a] Red Bull.

'Literally I get out of bed, get the kids up and downstairs, get their breakfast sorted and then I'm straight into the Red Bull.

'After that we meet at the stadium for pre-match and while I'm getting changed I'll have a coffee - it's better than taking ProPlus. Red Bull, coffee and then when we get over to the pre-match lounge, I'll have my cheese and ham omelette with another can of Red Bull.'

And after scoring the equaliser on Monday night, Vardy continued to enjoy himself, and made sure to fire a parting shot at the Tottenham supporters as he left the field.

He could be seen pointing to the Premier League badge on his shoulder and holding up one finger, before pointing at the Spurs fans and making a zero with his hand - a not-so-subtle jibe that does not need to be translated fully.

Vardy then crossed paths with Cristian Romero, which ended with the ex-England international telling the defender to 'f*** off' as he made his way off the field.

Former Liverpool defender, Jamie Carragher, who was working on Sky Sports' Monday Night Football show, loved Vardy's tongue-in-cheek gesture.

'Thank God Jamie Vardy went and seen Steve Cooper midweek and said he was ready, ready to play,' said Carragher. 'And I mean, never change Jamie Vardy.

'That was Vardy at his best,' Carragher added of the striker's display. 'He could have scored the winner and he got the goal to start with.

'It was chalk and cheese the second half performance [from Leicester], and there was energy in the stadium.'

Judging by the reaction on social media, football fans clearly loved what they had seen from the veteran striker.

One fan was quick to pick up on Vardy's half-time antics, writing on X: 'Red Bull effect.'

Another added: 'Seeing this in real time was hilarious - the Premier League missed you Jamie!'

A third viewer was clearly excited to see more of Vardy, saying: 'Great to have him back in the Premier League.'

A fourth X user posted a GIF that said 'Cinema', while a fifth claimed: 'The Premier League is so back.'

And for one fan there was only one way to sum up Vardy's iconic return to the top-flight, simply stating: 'What a legend.'
