The Invincibles squad have been invited to Arsenal’s final game of the season against Everton at the Emirates to mark the 20th anniversary of their legendary title win.

The squad, who remained unbeaten in the Premier League for the entire 2003/04 season, are Arsenal’s last side to lift the title.

They could witness that record broken if the Gunners manage to pip Manchester City to top spot on May 19.

A gala lunch will also be put on for them by the club in celebration.

The Gunners, who face Bournemouth today, sit top of the table, one point ahead of Manchester City - though Pep Guardiola’s men have a game in hand.

Mikel Arteta is hoping in his ‘heart and soul’ that Man City drop points as Arsenal enter their season’s final three league matches in contention for the title.

When asked about Man City’s 19-match unbeaten run in the league, Arteta said: ‘We expect (that), when you look at what they have done in the last seven, eight years and the amount of points you have to have (to compete with them).

‘Those sequences and those kinds of momentums to reach to that amount of points. So it’s not a surprise.’

Arteta knows how formidable Guardiola’s machine is, having been his assistant at the club between 2016 and 2019. But he still is not giving up hope.

He said: ‘In my heart and in my soul… this (City dropping points) is what I am hoping for, yes.’

The Spaniard went on to describe the rollercoaster of being in a title tussle with Man City.

‘You know what is going on (with my emotions),’ he said.

‘You just want to win, and to win you need others to drop points and you are hoping for that to happen.

‘And then (after City win) you have to manage your emotion because it doesn’t matter what happens on that day.

‘There are still a lot of games and points to play for.‘

Arteta confirmed Jurrien Timber is ready for first-team selection after nine months out as Arsenal have a fully-fit squad for the first time this season.

Timber has been out since injuring his ACL on the opening day of the season against Nottingham Forest.
