Liverpool have started the Premier League season well in terms of performances, but with four points already dropped to Manchester City it looks as if they are resigned to giving the Citizens a head-start in the title race.

Jurgen Klopp's challenge was made even more difficult on Monday evening when marquee summer signing, Darwin Nunez, was shown a straight red card for a headbutt on Joachim Andersen, which will result in a three-match ban.

He will miss the match against Manchester United on Monday at Old Trafford, yet the emotions of some Liverpool fans online have gotten the better of them with the defender being sent multiple death threats on Monday evening and Tuesday.

In a twitter post made by the EPL Bible account, it is estimated that Andersen was sent over 300 abusive messages after his clash with the former Benfica goalscorer.

Andersen himself took to social media to try and alert people to the problem by posting screenshots of the abuse he had received.

"Got maybe 3-400 of these messages last night," Andersen posted on Instagram.

"I understand you support a team but have some respect and stop acting tough online.

"Hope Instagram and the Premier League do something about this."
