Jamie Redknapp says he feels 'sorry' for £107m Chelsea star Enzo Fernandez - who he looked 'LOST' against Man City... as he claims the Blues 'just want the season to be over' after 'testimonial feel' to Etihad clash

Jamie Redknapp has claimed that Enzo Fernandez 'looked lost' during Chelsea's game at Manchester City, while the Sky Pundit also said he 'felt sorry' for the World Cup winner.

Man City looked in cruise control during the match, taking the lead early in the game through a well-worked goal from Julian Alvarez, who swiped a shot across Kepa Arrizabalaga in net to put the hosts a goal up.

But he appeared to not be overly impressed with some of their players, including their marquee £107million January signing, Fernandez, before claiming the match had a 'testimonial feel' to it.

Redknapp gave his opinion of what Chelsea's mentality would be coming into this game, with the Blues currently sitting 12th in the league after what's been a season to forget.

He said the Blues players will be thinking: 'We have to get this game over with.'

'I look at Enzo in midfield. We'll give him the benefit of the doubt, he was excellent at the World Cup.

'He looks lost, I feel a bit sorry for him. It seems the case for a lot of the players right now.

'I think the younger players are going to get as much experience as they can out of it. It's a tough one because you're playing against the champions, it's the parade.'

Fernandez, 22, dazzled for his national side at the 2022 World Cup featuring in all of Argentina's matches to become one of the most talked about players at the competition.

And while he's featured heavily for Frank Lampard's side, since joining in January, the Argentine failed to spur his team forwards today, making only 39 passes, a scratch on the 109 he played during Chelsea's 2-2 draw to Nottingham Forest last week.

City had already claimed the title after Arsenal were beaten 1-0 by Nottingham Forest on Saturday, and Redknapp also claimed that there was a 'testimonial feel' around the game today. with the home side not wanting to incur any injuries ahead of their clash against Inter Milan in the Champions League final fast approaching.

Meanwhile, he also claimed that Frank Lampard's side, were hoping for an end to their difficult season.

Speaking on the hosts midfield, he added: 'Man City certainly in midfield, Rico Lewis has been exceptional and so has Phil Foden.

'It's a testimonial feel to the game. It's one of those where you don't want to get injured if you're a Man City player and Chelsea just want this season over it's been that bad.'
