The forward set up Lewandowski's opening goal in a mixed display

Ansu Fati has games ahead of him where he can show he is back to his best. He got an assist against Real Mallorca and showed some green shoots, although he can still improve and showed his frustration on occasion. It was his first start of the season in La Liga, having just started against Viktoria Plzen in the Champions League. He must keep having some patience.

With Dembele and Lewandowski in attack, Ansu was on the left. He has a good understanding with Jordi Alba and helped out in defence, although Maffeo caused him problems.

Ansu did beat his man in attack, though, for the only goal of the game. Ansu burst past him and fed Lewandowski, who cut inside and finished lethally.

Starting was reward from Xavi after a fortnight of hard training while the internationals took place - he was left off Luis Enrique’s squad list. Xavi said Ansu had ‘rebelled’ against his fate by working hard. The player was active in the first half especially.

In the second he dipped a little and kicked the ball away in a fit of rage after a move where he couldn’t get a shot away. Ansu was taken off by Xavi for Raphinha. He made 32 correct passes, one shot off target, was fouled once and committed one foul. Bit by bit, his form will return.
