Barcelona have announced on social media that they will "investigate any racist insults that may have occurred during the match against Real Madrid" aimed at Vinicius Jr.

Barça, who "will always defend the values of football and sport such as respect for the opponents," will analyse all the images that have been circulated on social media following the Madrid comeback at the Estadi Olímpic Lluís Companys de Montjuïc.

The Catalan club said: "Barcelona will always defend the values of football and sport such as respect for the opponent and we will investigate any racist insult that may have occurred this afternoon during the match against Real Madrid."

Newspaper Marca, with a video from the Montjuïc stands, caught some Barcelona fans insulting the Brazilian with shouts of "F-----g monkey, f-----g monkey".

In the same graphic document, the newspaper reported that one of them threw a banana onto the pitch at the same moment that the insults were taking place, although the image does not make it clear and some internet users have suggested that it could be the yellow card of the mosaic at the start of the match.

Whatever the case, Barça will not ignore this incident and will carry out the relevant investigation to contribute to the eradication of violence in the world of sport.
