Chelsea have confirmed the departures of three players as they revealed their retained list following the 2023-24 campaign.

It was a rollercoaster season for Todd Boehly's Blues, who endured a tough start before eventually securing a sixth place finish in the Premier League table.

Then, they parted with first-team coach Mauricio Pochettino once the season ended, after the Argentine left via mutual consent along with his coaching staff.

Now, the Blues have confirmed that three players will also be heading out the exit door at Stamford Bridge - including veteran defender Thiago Silva

In a statement on Wednesday, Chelsea confirmed that Silva, Josh Brooking and Noah Hay will leave the club at the end of this month.

Veteran defender Silva announced his decision to leave Chelsea back in April, before bidding an emotional farewell to the club shortly afterwards.

The 39-year-old Brazilian joined the club on a free transfer from Paris Saint-Germain in 2020 and has remained a vital member of the squad throughout his four years.

In April, Silva has now revealed that he is set to depart in the summer, describing in a statement his 'indescribable love' for the club that he only originally planned on representing for a single year when he signed.

'Chelsea means a lot to me. I came here with the intention of only staying for a year and it ended up being four years,' he said via Chelsea's website. 'Not just for me but for my family, too.

'My sons play for Chelsea so it’s a source of great pride to be a part of the Chelsea family – literally because my sons are here. I hope they can continue their careers here at this victorious club that many players wish to be part of.

'I think in everything I did here over the four years, I always gave my all. But, unfortunately, everything has a start, a middle and an end. That doesn’t mean that this is a definitive end. I hope to leave the door open so that in the near future I can return, albeit in another role here.'

Ahead of his final Chelsea game last month, Silva left his former Chelsea team-mates a brutal parting message.

'Thiago knows what it means to wear a Chelsea shirt, you know,' Silva told Sky Sports. 'And if I have a message to send to the boys that are here today, I hope they understand that everything they did to get to Chelsea has to be worth it.

'Because the season we're having is not worthy of Chelsea. It's not. And I think they have to do more next year, they need to do more.

'If you look at the games, the fans never left the team, never. We were in ninth place, eighth, right? And the fans were always there.

'They booed us off a little at the end of the match, but they're always there in the stands, always with 40,000, 45,000'.
