Manchester United showcased their former iconic training ground The Cliff, as they released their new third kit.

Once the headquarters of the Red Devils, the grounds have been neglected and the buildings have crumbled.

United fans will hold fond memories of The Cliff, the place where Busby's babes were moulded and the finishing school from which the Class of '92 graduated.

But those seem like distant memories now it has been left to wreck and ruin, a far cry from the place people once knew.

And things have gone from bad to worse, as it was reported that human remains were found mere yards away from The Cliff.

The video paired with the release of the kit features Barry Keoghan on site at the famous training centre as the youth academy plays out a match on the pitch as they aim to recreate the atmosphere that used to surround the site.

While the video, does a great job of showing the old ground in a great light, the reality may be somewhat very different.

Despite the club moving to their Carrington base in 2000, the youth academy still train there and many players have nervously jooked about bits of it falling off.

And a look around the old training centre gives real credence to their concerns about the state of the building.

There was a notice on one of the doors, dating all the way back to 2014 warning visitors not to enter one of the buildings - though no real reason was given for this.

As Mail Sport's Mike Keegan reported - to some, The Cliff is now a stark symbol of the Glazer family's ownership of Manchester United.

'If you want to know about the Glazers and what they feel about the club get yourself to The Cliff,' Keegan was told.

'The place should be a museum, somewhere to be proud of. But it's had hardly any money spent on it in 20 years and it is falling to bits. It's shameful and it shows that the Americans do not care.'

When Keegan visited back in March of last year he noted that nothing had changed from the days when journalists would hang around teh car park.

While much of the building is still very much in use, including the indoor school and outdoor pitches, one building stands out in particular.

The famous red brick building was then surrounded by scaffolding on all sides with a cracked window and graffiti all over the walls.

And earlier this year, more concerns were raised around The Cliff when human remains were found nearby.

The torso of Stuart Everett was found by a member of the public in Kersal Dale wetlands on April 4, just a stones throw from the academy.

At the time a tent was erected at the site where the plastic wrapped remains were found as the police launched an investigation.

By the end of the month the body parts were confirmed to have belonged to Mr Everett while two men were charged with his murder.

Michal Jaroslaw Polchowski, 68, and Marcin Majerkiewicz, 42, appeared at Tameside Magistrates Court on Monday and were remanded in custody ahead of an appearance at Manchester Crown Court on 21 June.

A provisional date for a trial has been set for 3 March 2025.

When contacted about the state of The Cliff they said away from the famous building, the pitch and the indoor centre have received investment and are maintained to a decent standard.

They added that proposed works that include a new roof and windows and upgrades to the indoor arena and car park. Whether they materialise remains to be seen.

Since the original piece in 2023, Sir Jim Ratcliffe bought a stake in the club and announced that Carrington would be undergoing a £50m revamp as they look to modernise the facility.

Though there was no real mention of The Cliff in their announcement.
