Real Madrid supporters have picked their all-time club XI in the build-up to Saturday's Champions League final against Borussia Dortmund, but one player has divided fans on social media.

Madrid are seeking to win UEFA's top European club honour for the 16th time at the weekend as Carlo Ancelotti's side travel to Wembley for the final.

It will be Toni Kroos' final game for the club after he announced his plans to retire after Euro 2024, while Luka Modric is also considering his future at the age of 38.

Plenty of legends of the game have pulled on the famous Los Blancos shirt over the years with Cristiano Ronaldo the club's most iconic star, while the likes of Sergio Ramos and Iker Casillas have also earned legendary status at the Santiago Bernabeu.

However, one group of fans decided to pick current centre-back Antonio Rudiger in the all-time Madrid squad, with critics hitting back at the decision on social media.

Different supporters were asked to choose one player for each position, with Rudiger chosen by a group of girls alongside former captain Ramos at the heart of defence.

The pair are flanked by Dani Carvajal at right-back, while Marcelo and Roberto Carlos couldn't be separate on the other side of defence.

A midfield trio of Modric, Kroos and Madrid icon Zinedine Zidane was named, while Ronaldo, Raul and the Brazilian Ronaldo led the line in attack.

Former Chelsea defender Rudiger was the surprise after only being at the club for two seasons since deciding to leave Stamford Bridge, with social media awash with reaction afterwards.

'They mistake Rudiger for Pepe. I forgive them,' said one hilarious comment on X.

Another similar reply to the viral video added: 'Bro Rudiger has been in Madrid for only two seasons and is already in the Real Madrid team of all time.'

Others pointed out that Rudiger has never played against LaLiga's best whereas Portuguese star Pepe has, with one fan adding: 'Rudiger that didn’t encounter Messi neither Neymar. Give Pepe some respect besides replace Modric with Ozil.'
