Karim Benzema has reaffirmed his legendary status at Real Madrid through his interactions with fans in a viral video.

Benzema, 36, now plies his trade for Al-Ittihad but become one of the best strikers in the world during a hugely decorated 14-year spell at Real Madrid from 2009 to 2023.

The Frenchman scored 354 goals in 648 appearances in the Spanish capital, winning 25 trophies along the way, including five Champions League titles.

Benzema moved to the Middle East last summer, penning a three-year deal worth £86million-per-season.

However, in a video on social media, Benzema was shown to clearly still have a soft spot for Los Blancos.

It is unclear when the clip is from, but Benzema appeared to be walking straight out of the mixed zone at a stadium after a match and refusing requests to speak to fans and media.

Yet, one supporter was holding a Real Madrid shirt and just as the French striker was about to head out, he saw the top of his former club.

Benzema then stopped, before proceeding to speak to the fan and sign their Real Madrid shirt in what has been dubbed a classy gesture.  

Things haven't been plain sailing for the striker in the Saudi Pro League, with Benzema netting just nine league goals last season, amid a plethora of off-field problems.

Reports claimed he fell out with former Al-Ittihad boss Nuno Espirito Santo, before he also had difficulties with Marcelo Gallardo, who similarly departed his role at the end of last season.

Meanwhile, Al-Ittihad were said to furious after he returned late after the winter break, while he also stormed out of an Al-Ittihad training session in February following a dispute with Gallardo.

However, things are looking up under new boss Laurent Blanc, who coached Benzema at France between 2010 to 2012.
