One of the positives from Real Madrid's victory over Real Betis was the apparent discovery of Miguel Gutierrez by Carlo Ancelotti, with the youngster given a chance to play due to injuries suffered by Nacho, Marcelo and Ferland Mendy.

David Alaba was required to move into a central defensive position to make up for the injuries, so Gutierrez was placed at left-back and his performance was eye-catching to say the least.

He shut down the left side from a defensive perspective and was able to join in with attacking moves, combining well with Vinicius.

For a player of just 20, Gutierrez has surprise maturity on the ball and the match in Seville could be the turning point for his career, with it difficult to see him not remaining part of the senior squad.

There remain doubts about Mendy's fitness and Marcelo's performances, so Gutierrez could use both of these situations to his advantage if he simply keeps playing to this standard.

Gutierrez has played seven matches with the Los Blancos senior team and has six wins and one draw, which is a positive reflection on his contributions. He impressed Zinedine Zidane at the end of last season and now it seems he has won over Ancelotti too.
