American international and midfielder Weston McKennie has rejected a move to Aston Villa as he awaits a bid from a larger team, according to multiple reports from Corriere dello Sport and Tuttosport.

The reports emerging from Italy claim that McKennie is holding out hope for a bid from Tottenham, Chelsea, or Borussia Dortmund who are all said to have registered interest in signing him.

It was recently reported that of all his potential suitors, the move to the German side was McKennie's preferred one at the moment.

Villa is reportedly willing to satisfy Juventus' price tag of $32 million (€30 million) for the American star. 

However, Tottenham is in talks to try to bring McKennie to Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in the January transfer window, according to Tuttosport. 

 While another Italian outlet, Calcio Mercato, had previously claimed that Chelsea's American owner Todd Boehly is interested in bring him compatriot to Stamford Bridge. 

It is now believed that McKennie has rejected Villa's advances, in favor of securing a move to bigger Premier League sides or the Bundesliga giant.

Along with proving himself at the highest levels of Serie A after having proved himself in the Bundesliga while playing for Schalke, McKennie has become a staple of the United States midfield as well.

He started in all four games for the US during the World Cup in Qatar, playing a total of 275 minutes.

But despite his impressive campaign in Qatar, he was made available by Juventus manager Massimiliano Allegri following Paul Pogba's return from injury.

McKennie was initially identified as a player who could possibly be on the move during the current January window several weeks ago after his playing time began to fade and reports began to emerge that he could be available for anywhere from $21-$36 million.

Aside from seeing his role filled by a returning Pogba, Juventus could be keen on offloading McKennie given the club announced they had a loss of €254 million on their books back in September.

Since then the club have been hit by a scandal involving the resignation of the club's board of directors as the result of an investigation into inflated transfer values.
