Chelsea are reportedly in the market to sign a new goalkeeper to push Robert Sanchez's place as the No 1.

The former Brighton shot-stopper is understood to be in line to start the season as Enzo Maresca’s first choice keeper.

It places doubt over the immediate future of Djordje Petrovic who impressed under Mauricio Pochettino last season.

In the past 24 hours the club have 'stepped up' plans to look for a new goalkeeper who can compete with Sanchez, the Telegraph report.

Maresca is said to be an admirer of the way Sanchez can play out from the back, but believes there is too much of a difference between him and Petrovic.

Reports have linked the Blues with Real Madrid's Andriy Lunin, but he does not fit the profile of keeper Maresca wants.

Earlier today it was revealed that Chelsea are in talks over the potential signing of a former Manchester United star.

The possible deal has been approved by new manager Enzo Maresca, with Chelsea prepared to pay up to £35million.

As reported by Globo, Chelsea are interested in signing Andreas Pereira and have made contact with the midfielder's agent Kia Joorabchian.

Pereira is said to have a verbal agreement with Fulham which would enable him to depart should an acceptable offer be made.

It has been a busy summer already for Chelsea in the transfer market, with the Blues having brought in a host of players.

Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall signed from Leicester for £30million, while Tosin Adarabioyo arrived on a free transfer following his departure from Fulham.

Omari Kellyman, Marc Guiu and Renato Veiga have also made the switch to Stamford Bridge.
