Taylor Swift has revealed that The Eras Tour will officially end in December as she took to the stage in Liverpool on Thursday for her 100th show.

The singer, 34, kicked off her three-day stint in the city and broke the all-time attendance record at Anfield Stadium, with 53,000 fans filling the arena.

And making the gig even more special was the fact that it was Taylor's 100th concert on her worldwide Eras Tour, after her sell-out three-night run in Edinburgh last week.

The record-breaking tour began on March 17 last year and since travelled through Europe, Australia, South and North America.

But during the show, Taylor announced that the Eras Tour would officially be coming to a close in December after raking in millions of pounds, breaking a slew of records and even triggering earthquakes

Addressing the crowd, the superstar said: 'This is the very first time I’ve ever acknowledged to myself and admitted that this tour is going to end in December'.

Speculation was rife that Taylor would be making a big announcement at Thursday's show, with many fan theories gaining traction on social media ahead of the gig.

The fact it was the landmark 100th show coincided with it being June 13, which many sleuthing Swifties took as a sign.

Taylor's lucky number is famously 13 and it has become a symbol among her fanbase, who often write the number on the back of their hands when attending her shows.

In an interview with MTV News in 2009, the pop star explained: 'I was born on the 13th. I turned 13 on Friday the 13th. My first album went gold in 13 weeks.

'Also, my first song that ever went number 1, it had a 13 second intro, I didn't even do that on purpose! And every time I've ever won an award at an award show, I've either been seated in the 13th row, or row M, which is the 13th letter.'

Adding to mounting rumours, was the realising that as Taylor was born on 13 December 1989, Thursday marks her 'half-birthday'.

Fans took to X (formerly Twitter) to express their excitement, penning: 'Why does the day before the 100th show feel like Christmas eve and why am I also terrified?'

'I’m unsure of WHAT is going to happen but the fact that the 100th show JUST SO HAPPENS to land on the 13th of the month AND taylor’s half birthday makes it undeniable that something is happening. Nothing is a coincidence with her.'

'Not to add fuel to the fire but June 13th aka the 100th show is also Taylor’s half birthday; How am I gonna be at the 100th show on the 13th I still can’t believe this is real.'

'The fact there will be casual fans attending the show tonight with no idea it’s the 100th show on the 13th.. meanwhile I’m at home having a menty b; Happy 100th eras show on the 13th for anyone who is celebrating or fearing.'

Acknowledging her 100 show milestone, Taylor told the crowd of Swifties that she couldn't believe it and gushed that it had been 'exhausting' but also the 'most rewarding and wonderful thing' in her life.

She said: 'You know this is actually the 100th show of the tour. That blows my mind, that doesn't feel like a real statistic to me because this has definitely been the most exhausting, all-encompassing, but most joyful, most rewarding, most wonderful thing that has ever happened in my life.'

She went on: 'I think that this tour has really become my entire life, it has take over everything.

'I think I once had hobbies but I don't know what they were anymore, because all I do when I'm not on stage is sit at home and try to think of acoustic song mashups and think about what you might want to hear.

'When I'm not on the stage I'm dreaming about being back on the stage with you guys.'

Elsewhere at the concert, Taylor thanked the crowd of adoring fans for braving the rain all day to wait outside the Liverpool FC stadium to see their beloved popstar.

Wearing a pink bejewelled bodysuit on stage, the Cruel Summer hitmaker told fans: 'I'm so excited. What you've already done here is crazy, because it has been raining all day.

'You have braved the rain; you came here ready to drape yourselves in plastic; you've been standing here; you've been ready for the show.

'I know a lot of you travelled a far distance to get to to the show right? I just want to say, those things means the world to us.

'Getting to play this show for people who would go so far above and beyond for us, and welcome us to Liverpool in such a fashion. We love you so much.'

She added: 'And you know, while I was walking to the stage, they pulled me aside and told me another thing that you've done for us tonight. And that thing is that you broke the all-time attendance record for this stadium tonight.'
