New RefCam footage has been released from Manchester United's trip to Crystal Palace last season - and is does not make pleasant viewing for Casemiro.

The Selhurst Park clash in early May marked arguably the lowest point in a dismal campaign for Erik ten Hag's men as they were beaten 4-0 on their way to their lowest-ever Premier League finish.

And the opening goal of the game set the tone as Michael Olise held off Christian Eriksen before going past Casemiro as if he wasn't even there and then finding the bottom corner.

Casemiro was criticised at the time for his role in the goal, but the new camera angle makes it look even worse as he slides in and gets nowhere near the ball, allowing Olise to glide past him.

His awful attempt at a challenge has not escaped the wrath of fans after the fresh footage emerged, with one supporter posting a screen grab of Casemiro missing his tackle on Olise alongside the caption: 'Send him to Saudi'.

Another X user added: 'The angle of this footage is killing me, look at Casemiro man.'

One fan could hardly believe what they were seeing, claiming: 'Casemiro is tackling in real life the way actors tackle in ads or movies where they play football.'

The evening would not go on to get any better for Casemiro as he was at fault for at least one other goal.

Palace made their dominance count as Jean Philippe-Mateta and Tyrick Mitchell netted before Olise rounded off the scoring with his second of the game.

Following Casemiro's dismal display, Sky Sports pundit Jamie Carragher called for the Brazilian midfielder to 'call it a day'.

'I said at half-time he's (Ten Hag) got to bring Casemiro off,' Carragher said.

'I know he's got kids on the bench but I think Casemiro, deadly serious, should know himself tonight as an experienced player that he should only have another three games left at the top level. The next two league games and the [FA] cup final.

'And he should be thinking "I need to go to the MLS or Saudi". I'm deadly serious. He's aging, the people around him they need to tell him this has to stop.

'Him holding, [Toni] Kroos to one side [Luka] Modric to the other was one of the best midfields. Could easily go up against the Barcelona midfield we all loved (with) [Sergio] Busquets, Xavi and [Andres] Iniesta.

'He's been an absolute great. I am nowhere near on a level of what that man has achieved. Champions Leagues, playing for Brazil, playing for Real Madrid.

'But I always remember something when I retired myself, there was a saying I always remember as a footballer, "leave the football before the football leaves you".

'The football has left him at this top level he needs to call it a day at this level of football and move.'

Over three months on from Carragher's rant, Casemiro remains at Old Trafford and he started United's opening game of the new season against Fulham last Friday.

However, his place in the team could soon be under threat as United are closing in on signing PSG's Manuel Ugarte who could come in to partner Kobbie Mainoo in midfield.
