Laporta is going all out at Barcelona

Joan Laporta's summer strategy has made Barcelona the big players in the transfer market and not only in Spain, as clubs across Europe are looking at the situation with surprise.

They have snatched the best player from Bayern Munich, despite him being under contract. They have taken Jules Kounde, one of the jewels of the market. And they also got Raphinha, who had plenty of suitors.

With the signing of Kounde, Laporta has broken his own record. Never before has he invested so much money in signings in the same season.

So far it is 143 million euros and he doesn't want to stop there. The message from the club is that there are still a couple of operations to be closed - a right-back and a left-back - in order to finish off the incorporation of new players.

If each of those moves is carried out, Laporta would equal his two busiest windows with seven signings.

They were in the 2004/05 season, when he carried out the revolution that he is now trying to repeat, and the last one, in which the club almost moved more in winter than in summer.

That's in terms of the number of additions. If we talk about spending, it seems difficult for the club to come close to the records set at the time by Josep Maria Bartomeu.

Barcelona's spending per season

It remains to be seen what the final bill is this summer for the Catalans, but they won't reach the 300m euros of 2019/20 or the 380m euros of 2017/18.

We'll see how all this turns out and what consequences it has for the club in the medium term.

For the moment, the most urgent thing is to be able to register the players. There is still a lot of work to do for Barcelona to make it a successful summer.
