Former England captain John Terry was brutally mocked for how he conducted an interview following the Euro 2024 final.

Early on Monday Terry appeared on ITV's Good Morning Britain along with Sam Allardyce to give his opinion on England's 2-1 defeat to Spain.

Terry played for England between 2003 and 2012 and made 78 appearances for his country.

However, despite winning an array of trophies at club level with Chelsea, Terry didn't lift any silverware on the international stage. 

The centre-back was part of the 'golden generation' of England players that somehow weren't able to win any international trophies despite their ability.

Terry made the decision to sit in front of his trophy cabinet while being interviewed, which led to him being mocked online.

One fan joked that Terry's silverware collection included 'Under-18s medals' and added that the ex-Chelsea star is 'a meme'. They wrote: 'John Terry was on one of the breakfast shows this morning and I swear he’s got under 18’s medals in his background (along with everything he ever won). Dude is a meme'.

One user was heavily critical of Terry. They wrote: 'John Terry being interviewed sitting in front of all his trophies, what a k***'.

There was further criticism of Terry, with another user writing: 'John Terry, such a be*****, sitting in front of all his trophies'. 

Another user commented that Terry 'loves to be seen with trophies'. They wrote: 'John Terry loves to be seen with trophies. Fact.'

Terry was asked for his verdict on whether Gareth Southgate should  remain as England manager, to which he replied: 'I hope he stays'.

He continued: 'I'm still happy with what Gareth has done with this group of players. I think the way he has them playing is excellent at the moment and I think the togetherness is the biggest thing which we didn't have.'
