It's a little less than a month until the new Premier League season kicks off on August 16 and clubs around England will be looking to get their preparations wrapped up in time for the 2024-25 season.

But a lot is set to happen between now and the first game of the season. While the dust is only just settling on what was an enthralling European Championship, and players are still returning from their summer holidays, the new season is fast approaching, with some teams already back in pre-season training. 

Some players, like Jack Grealish, have been working on their own individual training regimes throughout the summer. His team-mate, Erling Haaland, meanwhile was snapped enjoying a lavish holiday on a super yacht, while other players like Ben Chilwell enjoyed a luxury beach holiday during the off-season.

But the hard work begins now. Teams will soon be setting off on pre-season tours to Asia, America and southern Europe, with Premier League clubs set to clock up approximately 190,593 miles (as the crow flies) travelling between games during the off-season.

But how does your club compare in the biggest travellers of the summer? Who is the most sustainable club and which newly promoted Premier League outfit is travelling the furthest?

Which clubs are travelling the furthest?

Manchester United lead the way as the club who will travel the furthest this summer, pipping Arsenal to the top spot, by amassing an approximate travel distance of 16,213 miles.

Erik ten Hag's side are one of several Premier League sides who are set to take part in an extensive tour of the USA, with Man United set to play the Gunners, Liverpool and Real Betis while they are Stateside.  

Tottenham and Newcastle have been jet-setting all around the world this summer, with Eddie Howe and Ange Postecoglou's sides having already enjoyed a post-season tour of Australia, following the conclusion of the 2023-24 Premier League season.

Spurs rank third on the list, behind their north London rivals, Arsenal, and are set to travel approximately 12,827 miles, putting them ahead of Chelsea (12,612 miles), Brighton (11,970 miles) and Newcaslte (11,800 miles).

Premier League winners, Manchester City rank 11th in the table, just ahead of Crystal Palace and Liverpool, with Pep Guardiola's side also set to clock up around 9,795 miles when they travel to America this summer.

In the lower half of the table, Nottingham Forest and Brentford, who are set to clock up 5,278 miles and 4,101 miles, are each expected to spend time in southern Europe, while newly promoted side, Ipswich, will head out to Austria and Germany for several pre-season matches, clocking up 2,253.

Southampton and Leicester make up two clubs inside the bottom three with Leicester set to have a fairly quiet summer, travelling 1,388 miles.

Everton, meanwhile, sit bottom of the rankings and are the greenest club in the Premier League. They are expected to clock up 700 miles this summer, with a trip to Ireland to play Sligo Rovers being their only venture abroad.

Man United - Distance: 16,213 miles

Having dipped their toes into the transfer market this summer already, Man United fans will be keen to see new stars including Joshua Zirkzee and Leny Yoro, while they will also eager to see how Jadon Sancho will fit into Erik ten Hag's squad following his return from Borussia Dortmund.

Following a disappointing 1-0 defeat by Rosenborg last week, United have an opportunity to get back to winning ways against Rangers this Saturday before travelling to America to play Arsenal, Real Betis and bitter Rivals Liverpool.

Arsenal - Distance: 15,014 miles

After agonisingly just falling out of the Premier League title race last year, following defeats by Aston Villa and Crystal Palace, the Gunners will want to hit the ground running this year as Mikel Arteta's side look to end a 20-year wait for a league title.

The Gunners begin their league season against Bournemouth on August 17, but prior to that, they'll head Stateside to take on Bournemouth and Man United in Los Angeles and Liverpool in Philadelphia.

Arsenal will then return home to take on Bundesliga champions Bayer Leverkusen and Lyon at the Emirates Stadium.

Tottenham - Distance: 12,827 miles

Following their post-season tour to Australia, Ange Postecoglou's side are set to head east this summer and will travel to Japan and South Korea, before returning home before their opening league match against newly promoted side, Leicester.

'Pre-season is obviously an opportunity to gain fitness and get the guys back up to speed from a match perspective, but for us, it’s a real valuable time where we can embed our principles and how we want to play,' said Postecoglou, who claimed his side 'haven't stood still'.

They certainly have a busy month ahead, but will now travel to play QPR at Loftus Road having beaten Hearts at Tynecastle 5-1 on Wednesday. 

Postecoglou's side will then fly out to Tokyo to play Vissel Kobe, before taking on a K-League XI at the Seoul World Cup Stadium in South Korea. Tottenham will also square off against Bayern Munich and former striker Harry Kane in Seoul, before both sides travel for a second fixture at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. 

Chelsea - Distance travelled: 12,612 miles

After completing a successful summer tour to the US last season, Chelsea will return to America and first take on Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney's Wrexham in Santa Clara on July 25. 

It is set to be a huge occasion, and the second time these two sides have met in the States over the past 12 months, with fans set to get their first glimpse of Enzo Maresca as the new permanent Chelsea manager and how the Blues will look to play under their new boss. 

Chelsea are then in for a big four weeks, with the Blues set to take on Celtic, Club America, Man City and Real Madrid, before returning home to play Inter Milan at Stamford Bridge.

Brighton - Distance: 11,970 miles

It is an interesting time for Brighton, who are set to see their new coach, Fabian Hurzeler, take charge of his first game as Brighton boss since succeeding Roberto De Zerbi.

At 31, he is the league's youngest permanent manager and will be looking to get his time at Brighton off to a flying start this summer in America.

Like Spurs and Newcastle, Brighton are set to head to Asia and will play two games against Kashima Antlers and Tokyo Verdy.

Newcastle - Distance: 11,800 miles

Despite rumours linking Eddie Howe to take over as Gareth Southgate's successor at England, yet, the Englishman is set to lead his side on a pre-season tour to Asia this summer that will see Newcastle travel a total of 11,800 miles. 

Newcastle will first travel to take on Hull City on July 27 before heading on a 5,805 mile trip to Saitama, Japan where they will take on Japanese top-flight sides, Urawa Red Diamonds and Yokohama F. Marinos. 

Aston Villa - Distance: 11,777 miles

Unai Emery's side are preparing for a huge season which will see them return to European football's elite competition for the first time since 1982.

They have already been active in the transfer window and are on the cusp of sealing a £50million deal to sign Everton's Amadou Onana, as they look to bolster their squad for what will be a busy season.

Villa also perhaps have one of the busiest pre-season schedules in the top-flight, with Emery's side set to complete a 1,168 mile trip to Slovakia to take on Spartak Trnava before then heading on a 4,637 mile journey to Ohio, USA, to play Columbus Crew.

The Villians will stay in America to play Leipzig and Club America before returning home to the UK to play Athletic Bilbao.

Wolves - Distance: 11,320 miles

Gary O'Neil's side will travel approximately 11,320 miles during their pre-season, with Wolves now set to head out to America following their game against Como in Marbella this week.

Wolves are set to take on West Ham in Florida and Crystal Palace in Maryland, before returning to Florida to face off against RB Leipzig.

The Wanderers will return to play one final pre-season match against Rayo Vallecano a week before the Premier League begins on August 10 at Molineux.

Bournemouth - Distance: 10,983 miles

The Cherries are another side set to travel to America for a pre-season tour.

They'll start 5447 mile trip to Santa Barbara, California, to take on Wrexham on July 20, before playing Arsenal in Los Angeles.

They'll then make the 5,000 mile trip back to the Vitality stadium to play Rayo Vallencano and Girona.

West Ham - Distance: 10,286 miles

Julen Lopetegui returns to the Premier League this season since parting company with Wolves nearly a year ago.

His first game in charge of the Hammers came earlier this week, during a 2-2 against Hungarian side Ferencvarosi.

But Lopetegui will be hoping for better results later on this summer with his side set to play Dagenham and Redbridge, before also heading stateside.

Man City - Distance: 9,795 miles

Fresh from their fourth consecutive Premier League triumph, Pep Guardiola's side will begin what is set to be a very hectic 12 months, with the Treble winners set to compete in all of the Premier League, Champions League, English domestic cups and the Club World Cup all in the next 12 months.

Over the course of the next month, they'll travel approximately 9,795 miles as they take on Celtic, AC Milan, Barcelona and Chelsea all in America, before returning to face off against city rivals Man United in the FA Community Shield - a repeat of their 2024 FA Cup final defeat.

Crystal Palace - Distance: 8,909 miles

Palace will make a brief trip over to America to take on Wolves, in Maryland before heading down to Florida to take on West Ham - a journey of over 8,000 miles. 

Sandwiched either side of that trip, Palace will take on both Charlton and FC Nantes in south London, with Oliver Glasner's side set to begin their league campaign against Brentford at the GTech Community Stadium.

Liverpool - Distance: 8,246 miles

Following the departure of their manager Jurgen Klopp, Liverpool fans will get a glimpse of their new boss, Arne Slot, in the coming weeks, as they venture on a 8,246 mile tour of the USA. 

Liverpool first travel to Pittsburg to play Real Betis at the Acrisure Stadium on July 26, before taking on Arsenal in Philadelphia and Man United in South Carolina. 

Nottingham Forest - Distance: 5,278 miles

While many other sides are jetting off to far-flung destinations, Forest will be staying in Europe and heading out to Spain to take on Sunderland, Millwall and Elche all at the Pinatar Arena. 

Forest will wrap up their pre-season campaign with a trip to play Olympiacos in Greece, who are also owned by Evangelos Marinakis.

Brentford - Distance: 4,101 miles

The Bees will kick-start their Premier League campaign against London rivals Crystal Palace on August 18, but Thomas Frank's side have a busy schedule ahead. 

They'll begin their pre-season campaign against AFC Wimbledon at Plough Lane on July 20, before they travel to Portugal for two big tests against Benfica and Estrela da Amadora. 

Ipswich - Distance: 2,585 miles

Back in the Premier League for the first time in 22 years, Ipswich will be looking to ensure they are ready and rearing to go for the new season. 

Of the newly promoted teams, they are doing the most travelling, making a 2,585 mile round trip of all their pre-season matches, with Kieran McKenna's side set to take on Shakhtar Donetsk in Austria, Fortuna Dusseldorf at Portman Road, before taking on Borussia Monchengladbach in Munich and Hoffenheim in Austria. 

They'll head back home to Portman Road to face off against OGC Nice before starting their Premier League campaign against Liverpool.  

Fulham - Distance: 2,253 miles

Marco Silva's side are set to have a much quieter pre-season than many other teams in the Premier League. 

Although, it looks as though Fulham will still be travelling around Europe this summer and are set to cover approximately 2,253 miles, as they take on Benfica in the Algarve and Hoffenheim in Germany.   

Southampton - Distance: 2,068 miles

Southampton will return to the Premier League after a year-long hiatus from the top-flight and take on Newcastle in their opening game of the season. 

Prior to that, they have a pretty busy schedule on their hadns that will see the Saints face off against some tricky opponents, including Millwall, Lazio and Getafe. 

Saints are set to complete an extended training camp in Spain later in July that will see them face Bordeaux and Montpellier behind closed doors.  

Leicester - Distance: 1,388 miles

Steve Cooper returns to manage in the Premier League with Leicester next season, but has a jam-packed schedule to get through first, with his new side taking on a range of opponents around Europe ahead of their opening game against Tottenham on August 19. 

Leicester first take on Villarreal in France, before returning to England to play Shrewsbury. They'll then take on Palermo in Derbyshire, before heading out to Germany and France to play Augsburg and Lens - completing an 1,388 mile round trip. 

Everton - Distance: 700 miles

Perhaps the most sustainable club in the Premier League for their limited travelling this summer, Everton are staying close to home this summer, with Sean Dyche's side only set to cross the border to travel to Ireland to take on Sligo Rovers - Seamus Coleman's former club. 

They'll then travel to play Salford, Coventry and Preston, before interestingly welcoming Roma to Goodison Park before the opening day of the season. It is an interesting move to host Roma at Goodison, particularly as the Toffees majority owner Farhad Moshiri is negotiating a deal with Dan Freidekin - the current owner of Roma - to buy a majority stake in the club.
