Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva "expressed his solidarity" towards Real Madrid player Vinicius Junior, after he was subjected to racist abuse yet again on Sunday at a La Liga game.

The Head of State is concluding his trip to Japan, where he attended a summit of the leaders of the Group of Seven wealthy democracies plus invited nations.

He strongly condemned the latest abuse against Vinícius, which came in Real Madrid's 1-0 loss at Valencia, a match that had to be temporarily stopped after the Brazil forward said he was insulted by a fan behind one of the goals at Mestalla Stadium.

"It's not fair that a boy coming out of poverty, that won in life, that is becoming one of the best players in the world - he's certainly the best at Real Madrid - is subjected to abuse at every stadium he plays. I think it is important that FIFA, the Spanish league and the leagues of other countries take the strongest actions possible", Lula stated.

The 22-year-old Vinícius, who is is black, has been subjected to racist abuse since moving to Spain five years ago.

Real Madrid coach Carlo Ancelotti considered replacing the star forward after Vinícius said fans at Mestalla chanted "monkey" toward him. He said Vinícius initially didn't want to continue playing.
