Eric Dier could leave Bayern Munich in the summer amid concerns over the defenders lack of pace, according to reports.

The 30-year-old completed a surprise loan switch to the Bundesliga giants in January from Tottenham, in a deal believed to be worth £2.5million with an option of a 12-month extension.

Dier has made five appearances for Thomas Tuchel's side since his arrival, starting in wins over Ausburg and Borussia Monchengladbach, as well as the humiliating 3-0 defeat to title rivals Bayern Leverkusen.

However, it appears the jury is already out on the England international, who is now expected to return to north London at the end of the season after failing to impress.

According to Bild, there are doubts about his ability and lack of pace within the German club, who are in the midst of a tumultuous period.

Sources however have insisted no decision has yet been made on Dier, who has impressed Tuchel with his leadership.

Bayern's central defensive options include Matthijs de Ligt, Kim Min-jae and Dayot Upemacano, who has been sent off in his last two outings.

Dier had credited Harry Kane for helping him assimilate quickly to life in Bavaria, having fallen out of favour with Ange Postecoglou at Spurs.

As a result, the defender is likely to have played his late game for Tottenham, with his contract expiring at the end of the term.

Bayern are also facing an uncertain few months following the news of the departure of Tuchel at the end of the season.

The German has come under intense scrutiny as he side have fallen eight points behind runaway leaders Bayer Leverkusen in the Bundesliga and face a one-goal deficit in the Champions League last-16 second-leg.
